Annie and I took some time off of cleaning to visit Dalbeg Beach on a wonderfully sunny afternoon.

On our family walk out the other day to blow away the cobwebs we were amazed to see the Carloway Loch completely frozen. This is the edge of where the ice ended and the ice sheets can be seen breaking away and going out towards the pier and out to sea. We later discovered a friend of ours had had to break the ice to get at his boat, so these ice sheets may have been caused by him!

Here is the undecorated cake and now for the decorated cake
Here it is decorated in a very sophisticated way, and it was absolutely yummy!

Ok, just guess what I did today. Christmas Eve tomorrow so I thought it was about time I made my Christmas Yule Log, Christmas Puddings and Christmas Cake. The house smells really really yummy. Just guess what I’m going to do tomorrow.

Not only do I run the Hebridean Jam Company with my husband, but I also have a successful cleaning and ironing business which has been going for over two years now. My friend, Annie, has decided to help me with the cleaning business. She was meant to be starting after Christmas, but needs must, she started today. We have done industrial quantities of ironing; and some spring cleaning in a holiday cottage. We are now on our Christmas break! So I am planning to hibernate now until after the New Year.
The answer to the pantomime question was (and one or two of you were sort of close)……. Jack and the Beanstalk!

This is very exciting, my own blog! I love this photo which I took in the summer of the sea at Dalmore. It was tricky to decide what to call my blog but The Jam Pot seemed a good idea on several counts. 1. My maiden name was Potticary. 2. my business is The Hebridean Jam Company and 3. The main characters in The Stornoway Pantomime this year were all potts. Jack Pott, Honey Pott, Mrs T Pott ……….. now guess the pantomime.
